1938: A Comedy Night for the Ages
Celebrating 80 Years of The Guardians of the Los Angeles Jewish Home
Since its founding 80 years ago, The Guardians has been one of the Jewish Home's most stalwart supporters. On January 26th, the group will celebrate eight decades of philanthropic vision and generosity with a gala evening of fantastic comedy, live music, and recognition of esteemed honorees Michael Koss and Josh Flagg.
Both Koss and Flagg have deep connections to The Guardians and Los Angeles. A leader in local commercial real estate (with a portfolio that includes the Malibu Country Mart and the Laguna Lumberyard), Koss has been a Guardian for over 25 years and currently serves as co-chair and founder of the Jewish Federations Centennial Endowment Campaign, which has raised $100,000,000. Flagg, star of the hit Bravo show Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, is a Guardians legacy, following in the footsteps of his parents and grandparents. As one of America's top luxury real estate agents, he has completed more than two billion dollars in residential real estate sales in Beverly Hills and Bel Air over the past 15 years.
"It is a privilege to partner with my friends and colleagues from The Guardians to make a difference for seniors in Los Angeles," Koss says. "I am grateful for the opportunity to give back and thrilled to be part of the Jewish Home community."
Flagg, who will receive the inaugural Ambassador Award, is equally enthusiastic. "Being a member of The Guardians continues a tradition passed down over three generations of my family," he notes. "It is so meaningful to receive this award."
The gala, to be held at the historic Hollywood Palladium, will bring together a broad swath of community leaders and Jewish Home contributors from across the city. Their participation will help support the Home's award-winning programs and services, which touch thousands of seniors' lives every year.
"The Jewish Home exists because of dedicated groups like The Guardians and people like Michael and Josh," says Molly Forrest, the Home's CEO-President. "I am delighted they are being recognized for all their hard work to help the Home grow and thrive."
The evening's event chairs are Tony Berns, Marilyn Freeman, Zane Koss and Peter Steigleder; Richard Ziman is serving as honorary chair.
