Jewish Home Center for Palliative Medicine

The Jewish Home Center for Palliative Medicine provides comprehensive pain and symptom management for adults with chronic, but not life-limiting, medical conditions.

The Center’s goal is to provide an alternative to hospice care that allows patients with disease to continue to seek curative care (such as chemotherapy or radiation) while having their symptoms aggressively managed.

Anyone who has experienced or is experiencing uncontrolled symptoms related to surgery or chronic illness may benefit from palliative care, including:

  • ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease)
  • Cancer
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Dementia/Alzheimer’s disease
  • Kidney illness
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Stroke

Palliative medicine patients receive an initial assessment to develop and implement their care plan. Once the plan is in place, palliative medicine specialists typically visit once or twice per month, but are available to respond to changes in condition and pain level as needs arise.
